Antonio Pierce Out Indefinitely

In what can only be considered bad news, Antonio Pierce is out indefinitely with a bulging disc in his neck. Mike Garafolo is reporting it.
Well this is tough to swallow. The entire defense was finally back together for exactly zero games. The excitement over the return of Aaron Ross is now negated by this huge blow to the team’s defensive leader.
I don’t have any medical experience, but bulging discs usually are not good. As per Garafolo’s article:

Ed posted about Antonio Pierce's injury last night, and it's definitely not good news. Mike Garafalo reports a little more about Pierce's contract situation and that of replacement Chase Blackburn. Also from MG comes a preview of the game against the Falcons.

... Middle linebacker Antonio Pierce, who practiced fully all week long and was not listed on the injury report, underwent an MRI on his neck this afternoon. The test revealed a bulging disc that will keep Pierce out of Sunday's game against the Falcons - and many more. An injury like this is often a season-ending one, though someone familiar with Pierce's injury said the Giants are hopeful the bulging disc will subside a bit and Pierce will be able to return in six weeks or so.
